DNA is a powerful tool for testing the identity of a person or relationship with other person. It is used for both criminal and civil cases. Through DNA testing you can get to know that the two individuals are related to each other or not. Not only this, you can also get an idea about the nature of the person.
Nowadays you can also identify the gender, ethnic background and can also reveal age about the person using only a single hair. DNA testing is an accurate method to test anything about a person. It has outbid blood test and many people prefer it for more accuracy.
DNA is a molecule that makes people unique in this world. DNA testing was discovered by Prof. Alec Jeffreys of Leicester University in 1984. At this time the first test was done. Same as when testing for fingerprints loops and whorls are compared same is done in the case with DNA testing also. In DNA testing different features of DNA are compared. These DNA features are called DNA markers.
If you get to know that the DNA markers of the two compared DNA are totally similar then it is the possibility that they can come from the same person. If the DNA markers are not totally identical but there are some markets that are matching then you can conclude that there is some relationship between two persons. If the DNA matches then there are many facts that can be established to conclude an issue.
DNA testing is done for many different cases. The most important two cases are identification between two individuals and the second one is that the stain in the crime scene has to match with the suspect. First time DNA testing was done for non criminal and legal cases like immigration and child support cases. In 2004 more than 7000 DNA tests were conducted in UK itself. It is a very serious and sensitive issue as the results can be quite devastating for both the child and the couple. So before you decide upon doing a DNA check, be mentally prepared for the results as well.
DNA testing is best in determining the relationship between two individuals. It is an unquestionable proof of relatedness. DNA testing was first conducted for a landmark immigration case in 1985. It is Sarbah vs. Home Office case. It is a mother son case in which DNA testing is done to prove the reliability of the relationship between mother and son.
In UK there is a Child Support Agency. This agency uses DNA testing to check who the biological parent of child is. In DNA there are also codes like AATTGCCTTTTAAAAA. Some of these codes are passed on to the child from parents.
DNA testing has changed everything. It has changed the way medical science works. Now it is easy to solve any legal and criminal case. Every body’s DNA structure is unique and hence determining the facts becomes quite easy.
As a father who wants certainty to father a child with unknown existence, you may want to submit yourself through a legal paternity test. In this way, you are guaranteed that the child is really yours. Or you may want to try court ordered paternity test.
